The sports centre in Strijen has undergone major renovation over the past year. Alderman Piet van Leenen gave the official starting shot for the renovation on 1 March 2022. Strijen will again have a contemporary(er) sports hall and swimming pool in early 2023.
The Apollo sports hall, built in 1973, was extended with the swimming pool in 1989. Both were in dire need of a major refurbishment.
For the sports hall, the top layer of the sports floor was renewed. The PU top layer showed signs of wear after years of intensive use. With a new layer of PU, the floor will be ready for the next few years.
