Herculan started in 1991 under the name Eputan Kunststoftechniek BV. Five enthusiastic men had decided to set up Eputan. There was no money, only enthusiasm, confidence in the future and the will to succeed. Producing materials one day and laying floors the next. Everything on our own, but with the help of friends and family, because without them we would not have survived this pioneering phase.
In 2000, Eputan moves to Meerkerk, Energieweg 6. After some renovations, production can take place here and there is enough space for a business office, administration, canteen and a laboratory. But not for long, here too Eputan grows out of her coat quickly. Fortunately, the opportunity presented itself to purchase additional land at the current location. Substantial new construction and renovation ensure that the company was constantly on the rise to eventually get a home base that could also handle future growth. In the meantime, the company Hercutrade had also been taken over, which is how the name Herculan came about.
After the renovation, the company was further professionalized from an organizational point of view. Much attention to product development, new ICT systems, stabilization in turnover and structure of the organization. The company Helder & May was also taken over to further specialize in the maritime sector. Growth in various areas has therefore been central in the past 30 years, but on the basis of the foundation as we once started: “Honest business in cooperation with loyal partners, employees, buyers and suppliers”!
